Lane Cove Council is undertaking the construction of a new multi-sport facility. Located in Sydney’s Lower North Shore area, this modern recreation centre will provide much needed sporting space for the community.

Growing population needs in the Lane Cove local government area and a lack of indoor venues and facilities which catered for women’s sports were the catalyst for this new development.

Galuwa Recreation Centre derives its name from the Sydney Aboriginal language where ‘Galuwa’ means ‘to climb’.

Community members will enjoy a wide range of facilities, including eight multi-sport courts, four multi-purpose rooms, a bistro and outdoor dining and a new golf pro shop. The Centre will support a multitude of sports and recreation activities, including golf, netball, basketball, tennis, pickleball and dancing.

Lane Cove Council has incorporated a high level of sustainability features into the building’s design and construction, including prioritising water reduction and reuse, energy reduction and recovery and replacing trees at a minimum of 2:1.

TCorp helped with the funding of this development with a $10mn loan. The Centre is scheduled for completion by the end of 2025 and will create a vibrant atmosphere for sport, wellness and community life.

Client feedback

“We’re excited to bring to life a key piece of infrastructure which will support the health and wellbeing of our community for generations to come. TCorp played a pivotal role in securing adequate funding for the success of this project.

The build is well and truly taking shape and the final stages of construction are within our sights.”
